Thomas D. Spear, RHCSA
Linux System Administrator
Thomas Spear is a Linux System Administrator with 10 years of experience in a variety of roles within IT. His experience is primarily in web hosting, with the majority of his Linux experience being on RedHat. He has recently transitioned into a role supporting Geoscience in the Oil and Gas sector, and looks forward to continuing his career in that space.
He currently contracts to different companies and individuals in and around Houston, TX. Previous projects have included Rackspace in San Antonio, and both SoftLayer and HostGator in Houston, as well as operating an on-site in-home-PC Repair service.
Thomas has obtained the RedHat Certified System Administrator certification. His certification status can be checked at: http://red.ht/tspear. In addition to being certified for RHEL6, he also has some minimal experience with enterprise networking hardware, such as Cisco ASA Firewalls, and some Virtualization technologies such as VMWare ESX.
When not working, Thomas constantly looks for new things to learn; anything from how to fly a stunt kite, to how to rebuild an engine from the ground up, to how to make hardware modifications to electronics -- mainly JTAG and RS232 ports, but he is a learning enthusiast who enjoys taking things apart to look a how they work.
Thomas is also a tech enthusiast and runs a blog with tips and advice from his own personal experiences as well as interesting articles he finds on the internet.
